Legal and Ethical Issues

There are a few other dog walking related apps out there, however they are often to help people find others to walk their dog for them or for people to find jobs as dog walkers. My site is designed to have people meet up and walk together and to track their own routes therefore it is an original IP. Also, all graphics will be original designs therefore not subject to copyright. As user's can upload photos if they please it must be noted that once shared on the site they are not protected from being used by other users (as with all social media anyone is able to share or screenshot another user's image). However to combat theft (identity and image) users will be able to flag certain images or profiles which will then alert the company and the copyright agencies will be contacted and the images and/or account will be removed. This applies to cyber bullying, harassment and online abuse also; users' can flag the user and they will be penalised accordingly.

Privacy Settings

In terms of privacy settings, it works like Facebook, users will have to send requests to others and then the other person can either accept or decline this request. If they accept the user will have access to the user's posts, photos, biography, statistics e.t.c (they will not have access to the users location unless the user has chosen to make this public on their profile. There will also be a setting in which the user will only be able to send requests but not receive them, this minimises risks of stalking and will make some users fell much more safer and protected. This app, of course, tracks one's route as they walk, however only the primary user can see this route and what time/date it was completed unless they choose to share it to their friends. This means other users will not be able to see whether or not the person is at home or not reducing risks of burglary and property damage.

Revenue Potential

For initial funds I will begin a kick-starter and visit local businesses who can begin by investing smaller amounts in order to advertise on my website.

With £30 being charged for every 100 clicks and 200 adverts on the site each day this already totals to £6,000, however I am looking to receive 10,000 users per day, the number of times the adverts will be clicked increases. If each user clicks the ad just a single time (10,000/100 = 100) and there are 200 adverts each paying £30, the site will receive £600,000 per day (30*100*200).

Along side this, I would investigate into sponsorship and have large companies such as Pedigree, Kong and Cesar pay into the site in order to partner with them and advertise their products. This would benefit everyone involved as the site would receive large sums of money in order to keep up to date and running smoothly and the company will be targeting the correct audience. The adverts will cost the companies around £5,000 per day.
